Those Were The Days, My Friend

Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do?

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance, forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.

Warbler, dear!
You're singing my song!

Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

Don't forget all those wonderful:
la la la la la la......las

Living for refrain!

Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friends we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Warbler, dear.
We have got to get together for this one.
I see a concert in our future!
The shiraz is on me, dear.
Living for music.

Warbler, dear.
Just had a frightening realization.
I logged on to Itunes to see if could download the beatles/Mary Hopkins cut of this wonderful song and then realized that Michael Jackson still owns the rights to all the Beatles music.

Alas! this particular recording was not available on Itunes. Might have to settle for the Clancy bros. version.
living for the la las las.

And in the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was this lonely woman really me?

Of course it wasn't - I'm a man or am I....
