Younger Than Springtime

In lieu of Botox, I decided to go to the salon today. It was in the middle of my fourth or fifth scalp massage (I did manage to stay awake the entire appointment, but barely) that I realized it has been, literally, years since I regularly went to anything but a Quick Cuts or whatever kind of place. I used to be the gal who might not have enough for laundry, but I HAD to manage to have enough for my hair (and maybe a facial here and there just to keep things looking smooth). I tried to share my love of having my brows done by a professional with my daughter but that was a no go - surprisingly. I guess we all have our little things that make us feel more...us. For some it's shoes and facials (plus low and high lights and a great cut with volumizing gel and some flat iron work. Hey, might as well, it's not like I'm gonna do it myself at six in the morning). For others it's cups of expensive coffee in a quiet house at four in the morning. Still, for others, it's a five mile jog. Just for the record, from my perspective, five mile joggers really need to stop and find something a little less sadistic as their zen like thing. That kind of devotion to pain is wrong in so many ways.

So, a little more relaxed. A little poorer. A lot more willing to face a three day week-end with some qualm....er, um...I mean, calm.

Happy official start of summer, y'all. Three day week-ends? Better than Botox, better than facials. Almost better than a scalp massage.
