What The World Needs Now

I don't get it. Here it is a day we choose to celebrate finding love (or to celebrate not finding love, or to anti-celebrate, whichever works for you) and the news is filled with ever greater tragedies - and I ain't talking the campaign trail. (Although, honestly, so much of it IS...)

How many multiple shootings last week, a meat cleaver murder in NYC yesterday, a mass shooting on the campus of a college outside of Chicago ... is it simply that insane violence, maybe insanity itself, increases with the financial, social and philsophical unrest in the country? Or maybe it's some kind of sociological cycle that occurs every trine blue moon or something? I don't get it. Our country is planning a one-shot deal to try and destroy a satellite re-entering orbit so that the extremely toxic fuel doesn't cause loss of life...but the debris might be as bad. There are wars going on in this world that we haven't even heard of here in the United States unless we listen to the BBC (and let's face it, folks, we will never have a news organization in this country that can even come close to rivaling the integrity, objectivism and high standards of journalism as the BBC). I didn't know until last week that France was in a conflict in...where was it?...Africa, maybe? So now our country isn't only just seriously following a scripted format guaranteed us all to be asking, "Snake Pliskin? I thought you were dead." but we're so isolationist that we have no real idea of what's happening in the rest of the world and society at large.

It just hasn't struck me as a very loving day at all. In fact, today my heart has been heavy and troubled. Thank God the hope for my future (who is running around the house in nothing more than his Scooby Doo underwear and a smile) has no idea what kind of world he's living in. And just for today, I am perfectly okay with that.

I hope I detected your tongue pushed very hard against your cheek when you were listing the "virtues" of the BBC! Right? Those folks in Britain are fast coming under the "vail" of
sharia law! They keep right on bending over backwards in order to not piss off one little muslim! Look at the AB of Canterbury's latest ravings! They, the BBC and all other papers are now forbidden from calling terrorists, muslims!! As if one could be separated from the other! Well you know what I mean, All muslims are not terrorists, but I'm not so sure the opposite isn't mostly true!
